Vol. 366 No. 6

Written Answers - Grant Payments.

82.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason sheep headage payments have not as yet been made in parts of Connemara.

Payments under the 1985 sheep headage scheme for all disadvantaged areas including Connemara have been completed for the past few months with the exception of a small number of query cases which are being cleared for payment as soon as satisfactory replies are received. The question of headage payments under the 1986 scheme does not arise until sheep inspections which are at present in progress, are completed.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason a grant was not made available to a person (details supplied) in County Galway in respect of a shelter belt; and if he will now reconsider this application with a view to making grant assistance available.

A minimum area of 1,000 square metres must be planted to qualify for aid under the shelter belt scheme. In this case the area planted was 330 square metres only which does not qualify for grant assistance.
