Vol. 367 No. 1

Written Answers. - Student Fees.

164.

asked the Minister for Education if arrangements will be made to assist from ESF sources a student (details supplied) in County Dublin who can no longer pay his fees or subsistence due to the redundancy of his father, as neither the Department of Health nor the Eastern Health Board are prepared to assist him.

The only funds available to my Department from the European Social Fund (ESF) are in respect of specific programmes of vocational training for persons who satisfy the criteria adopted by the European Social Fund for the award of such aid. As the course to which the Deputy refers is not one which is included in my Department's specific ESF-aided programmes of vocational training it is not possible to assist the person in question.
