163.

asked the Minister for Education if he has received representations or a request for funds from St. Mary's national school, Greenhills Road, Tallaght, Dublin 24, to enable major repairs to be carried out to the school which has substantially deteriorated in its fabric condition; if this request can now be favourably considered urgently; if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 162 and 163 together.

The school authorities have been authorised to engage an architect to furnish a report and recommendation concerning improvements which may be needed at St. Mary's national school, Tallaght, Dublin 24. The question of providing palisade fencing and other security works is to be covered in the report. When the report has been received in and examined by my Department the outcome of the application for grant aid towards the cost of necessary improvements will be conveyed to the school authorities.
