Vol. 367 No. 6

Written Answers. - Petrol Station Gift Offers.

18.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether the charges imposed on petrol retailers to fund collector tokens offered by the major oil companies constitute a fair use of their market position; and if it is in the best interest of the consumer.

Limerick East): I have no reason to believe, on the basis of the information available to me at present, that the arrangements for defraying the costs of gift offers, in connection with the sale of petrol, involve any abuse of market position by the oil companies concerned or that they are contrary to the interests of consumers.
