Vol. 367 No. 6

Written Answers. - County Dublin Post-Primary School Accommodation.

88.

asked the Minister for Education if, arising out of his reply of 27 May, he will inform the House of the number of the 515 pupils of Collinstown Park Community School who reside in each of the following estates: St. Ronan's Woodavens, Foxdene, Rowlagh, St. Mark's Glenfield, Shancastle, Greenfort, Harelawn, Liscarne, Wheatfield, Oatfield, Neilstown, Moorefield, James Connolly, Cappaghmore and Palmerstown Wood; if he will specify the stage of second level education they are at; if he will also specify the number that reside in other areas within the Dublin West constituency, other than those specified above; the stage of second level education these have reached; if he will specify the number of pupils of the above school who reside in the Dublin South-West constituency; and the stage of second level education these have reached.

The information sought by the Deputy is not available in my Department, and is not required in connection with the Department's planning for the provision of post-primary school accommodation.

89.

asked the Minister for Education when a second level school at Nangor Road, Clondalkin, Dublin 22, is scheduled to open; and the areas it is planned to serve.

90.

asked the Minister for Education if he will confirm the number of places vacant in the post-primary school at Deansrath, Clondalkin, Dublin 22, at each stage from first year to sixth year, inclusive.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 89 and 90 together. The post-primary school facilities in the areas specified by the Deputy must be viewed in the context of the decision notified by my Department to County Dublin VEC in April 1986 to approve the following arrangements with effect from 1 September 1986:

(a) the transfer of Colaiste Cronáin from Nangor Road to the new building at Deansrath and

(b) the transfer of Coláiste Chillian, the all-Irish post-primary school, and the all-Irish primary school to the Nangor Road building.

It is anticipated that approximately 475 pupils will be accommodated in the Deansrath building next September. The building can accommodate up to 1,000 pupils and it is expected that an enrolment of that order will be reached in due course.

The Nangor Road building will provide an all-Irish primary and post-primary school campus and will cater for the needs of the Dublin South-West area.
