Vol. 367 No. 8

Written Answers. - Mitchelstown (Cork) Water Supply Scheme.

48.

asked the Minister for the Environment when the compulsory purchase order relating to the Mitchelstown, County Cork, water supply augmentation, which is part of the north-east Cork regional water supply scheme, stage one, will be approved and issued to Cork County Council; and his views on the hardship being imposed on householders in the town of Mitchelstown because of the inadequate supply.

On 25 May 1986 I confirmed, without modification, the Cork County Council (north-east Cork regional water supply — stage 1) Mitchelstown Water Supply Augmentation (Compulsory Purchase) Order, 1985, and copies of the Order issued to Cork County Council on 3 June 1986.

I understand that the quality of the water in the Mitchelstown supply disimproves during prolonged periods of warm weather but that the new augmentation scheme, when operational, should eliminate any cause of complaint in this regard.
