Vol. 367 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Dublin Compulsory Purchase Orders.

72.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of the compulsory purchase orders affecting the administrative area of the Dublin-Belgard Committee of Dublin County Council which are awaiting a decision in his Department; and the date of approval, the purpose of the compulsory purchase order and when a decision will be given on the application in each case.

The only compulsory purchase order waiting determination by me in the area to which the Deputy refers, is the Dublin County Council Compulsory Purchase (Robinhood Road) Order, 1986. This order was made by Dublin County Council on 11 March 1986 and was submitted to me for confirmation on 24 March 1986. The purpose of the order is the acquisition of lands for improving Robinhood Road from the Long Mile Road to the entrance to the Robinhood Industrial Estate, with ancillary improvements. Since valid objections to the order have been made to me within the statutory period, I must cause a public local inquiry to be held. There will be no avoidable delay in making the necessary arrangements and in the final determination of the matter.

Two motorway schemes, providing, inter alia for compulsory acquisition of lands in the Dublin Belgard area, have been submitted to me for approval under the Local Government (Roads and Motorways) Act, 1974. These are: (i) The Dublin County Council (Western Parkway, Galway Road-Navan Road) motorway scheme 1985 made by Dublin County Council on 20 December 1985 and submitted for approval on 23 December 1985. The purpose of this scheme is to provide for the construction of a dual-carriageway motorway linking the N4 Galway Road to the N3 Navan Road, incorporating a high level bridge over the River Liffey at the Strawberry Beds. A public local inquiry in relation to this scheme was held on 12 May 1986.

(ii) The Kildare County (Kilcock, Maynooth and Leixlip By-Pass) motorway scheme 1985 made by Kildare County Council on 18 December 1985 and submitted for approval on 7 February 1986. The purpose of this scheme is to provide for the construction of a dual-carriageway motorway from the already improved section of the N4 road just west of Kilcock to the proposed by-pass of Lucan, by-passing the towns of Kilcock, Maynooth and Leixlip. A portion of the scheme lies in the Dublin Belgard area. A public local inquiry in relation to this scheme was held from 19 to 22 May 1986.

Before taking decisions on these schemes, it is necessary for me to give detailed consideration to the evidence given at the inquiries, the reports of the inspectors who conducted the inquiries and all objections to the schemes which have been lodged and which have not been withdrawn. There will be no avoidable delay in determining the schemes.
