Written Answers. - County Monaghan Vocational Schools.

81.

asked the Minister for Education when the proposed extension to the Carrickmacross, County Monaghan VEC school will be going to tender.

The proposed extension to Carrickmacross vocational school is one of a number of post primary school building projects at bills of quantities stage. A review of all such projects is being carried out at present to establish when they may proceed to the stage of seeking tenders. This review involved monitoring the flow of expenditure on ongoing contractual commitments in relation to available capital.

The County Monaghan Vocational Education Committee will be informed as soon as it becomes possible to sanction the seeking of tenders in this case.

82.

asked the Minister for Education if he will give an early assurance that an extension to the Ballybay VEC school will be provided, in view of the fact that it is the only second level establishment in that area.

My Department is at present examining an application from County Monaghan Vocational Education Committee for an extension to Ballybay vocational school. I have directed that this examination be brought to finality without delay.
