Vol. 519 No. 3

Written Answers - Public Private Partnerships.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

186 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will outline the promoters of the nine applications, submitted by Kerry County Council, for grant aid from the private public partnership fund; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13917/00]

The public private partnership fund for local authorities was established to provide grants to local authorities to defray the costs incurred in setting up approved PPP projects, for example, feasibility studies, the preparation of business plans, preliminary design work, etc. The applications submitted by Kerry County Council, together with those for other local authorities, are being examined by my Department. The applications are generally at an early stage and private sector partners have yet to be identified. In the case of two of the applications Kerry County Council is being assisted by the Irish Energy Centre in advancing the proposals.
