Vol. 368 No. 1

Written Answers. - Income Tax Assessment.

83.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will ensure that an exemption tax certificate issues to an elderly couple (details supplied) in Dublin 12 as tax is being deducted from their pension incorrectly since the tax year commenced.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that, on the basis of the latest information available to the inspector of taxes, the couple do not appear to be entitled to exemption for the current year.

The latest return of income completed by the husband was for the year 1984-85. The inspector will now issue a return form for 1986-87 to him for completion and on receipt of the form, duly completed, the couple's tax position will be brought up to date.
