asked the Minister for Finance if, in view of the general disquiet amongst residents and concerned bodies regarding the future of Rathfarnham Castle he will give consideration to the purchase and preservation of this historic castle for the benefit of the State and its citizens.

Dublin County Council passed a resolution on 13 January 1986 instructing the county manager to negotiate for the acquisition of Rathfarnham Castle. Since that time negotiations with a view to public ownership of the castle have been pursued.
