Vol. 368 No. 5

Written Answers. - Meath School.

204.

asked the Minister for Education when the extension to Castlejordan national school will be completed and ready for occupation; and the reason no work has been done on the extension for the past four weeks.

In reply to a previous question on 19 November last from the Deputy on this matter, my Department's dissatisfaction at the rate of progress on the erection of the extension at Castlejordan national school, County Meath, was expressed. Subsequently my Department put considerable pressure on the contractor concerned to complete the building. I understand that about one week's work remains to be done and my Department is seriously concerned with the delay in completing the work. My Department has not been offered an adequate explanation for the delays which have occurred in this case and will take every step open to it to ensure that the school will be ready for occupation by the beginning of the new school-year.
