Vol. 368 No. 5

Written Answers. - College Teacher Allocations.

205.

asked the Minister for Education if additional teaching L2 posts have been allocated to regional technical colleges and colleges of technology over and above those allocated as internal promotions under the terms of the agreed report 5/82; if any additional teaching L1 posts have been similarly allocated over and above those allocated as internal promotions from college teachers to L1 under the provisions of paragraph 7.1 of the agreed report of 5/82; if so, the basis on which these were made; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Following appeals against the original allocations approved by my Department a number of the colleges in question were given revised teacher allocations under agreed report 5/82.

Moreover, the teacher allocations for these colleges are examined on an annual basis in order to determine teacher requirements for the ensuing academic year. This examination takes into account such factors as new courses, course development, increased student numbers and increased accommodation. On that basis a number of additional lecturer I and lecturer II posts have been allocated from year to year.
