Vol. 368 No. 6

Written Answers. - Farm Improvement Programme.

15.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will take immediate action to amend the criteria in the recently announced farm improvement and installation grants to take account of the special conditions prevailing in the western area, in order that farmers there will qualify for these grants.

Farmers in the west of Ireland who meet the appropriate conditions are entitled to grants under the farm improvement programme. The main criteria for the programme are set out specifically in Regulation (EEC) 797/85 on which the programme is based.

The same position holds for the scheme of installation aids for young farmers, details of which will be announced very shortly.
