I move that Seanad Eireann hereby approves of the Sugar (Prohibition of Import) Order, 1945.
Sugar (Prohibition of Import) Order, 1945—Motion of Approval.
This is only a formal motion in present circumstances. As the House is aware the Sugar (Control of Import) Order empowers the Minister to control the import of sugar and a licence. An Order is made annually and the enactment of the measure confining the import of sugar to the Irish Sugar Company this year has the same effect, but in fact it is not anticipated that any sugar will be imported.
