asked the Minister for Justice the number of cases of (a) murder and (b) manslaughter which came before the courts in the last five years.

The information most readily available is that published in the annual report on crime prepared by the Garda Commissioner. The relevant data in that report is as follows:

Year

Number of murder cases commenced before the courts.

Number of manslaughter cases (other than traffic fatalities) commenced before the courts.
