Vol. 368 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Wexford Patient Transport Services.

171.

asked the Minister for Health his views on transport formerly provided by the South-Eastern Health Board from Wexford to Dublin being discontinued from 1 July; and the alternative arrangements he will make for people from outlying areas in County Wexford, without a means of transport themselves, to attend clinics in Dublin.

The provision of patient transport services in the Wexford area is a matter for the South-Eastern Health Board in the first instance.

I am informed by the board that they will continue to provide transport for patients attending Dublin hospitals and clinics but the service will be from designated pick-up points and not door-todoor as heretofore.

The board also points out that in any case where this gives rise to hardship it will be dealt with sympathetically as in the past.
