Vol. 368 No. 9

Written Answers. - Oranmore (Galway) Sewerage Scheme.

51.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position with regard to the planning of the Oranmore sewerage scheme; and his Department's intentions with regard to the type of sewerage scheme, the outfall points, the treatment facilities and the time scale for construction of the scheme.

The initiation of water and sewerage scheme proposals is a matter for individual sanitary authorities. I understand that Galway County Council are preparing a revised preliminary report for the Oranmore sewerage scheme proposal which will examine the type of treatment necessary, the location of discharge of effluent as well as the probable construction period involved. Until these proposals are received and examined in my Department, I am not in a position to comment on the scheme.
