Vol. 369 No. 1

Written Answers. - Free Milk Scheme.

301.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware of the complete breakdown of the free milk scheme in the Dublin area since a firm (details supplied) took over the contract in June 1986; if he is aware of the failure of the dairy to make supplies available; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Eastern Health Board which operates the free milk scheme in the Dublin area is satisfied that there has been no failure on the part of the contractors to make supplies available; neither has the scheme broken down.

Following the award of the contract to Drogheda and Dundalk Dairies with effect from 1 July 1986, there were some initial problems with the scheme. However these have now been resolved and the scheme is operating normally.
