Vol. 369 No. 1

Written Answers. - Disadvantaged Areas Scheme.

381.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the date on which all of Counties Cavan and Monaghan will become part of the more severely handicapped area.

382.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason part of the electoral division of Mountplummer in County Limerick is not included in the disadvantaged areas scheme; and if he will take appropriate action with regard to conducting a full inspection of this part with a view to having it included.

387.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will re-examine and investigate a number of townlands in the Slievemargy and Slievebloom areas of County Laois with a view to having them included in the disadvantaged areas scheme.

389.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if a decision will be made to have the Dunkellin-Lavally catchment area, County Galway included for classification in the severely handicapped areas.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 381, 382, 387 and 389 together. As was announced on 28 August, the Government has decided to initiate a further review of the disadvantaged areas for the purpose of extending the boundaries and reclassifying existing areas. The position in the different areas throughout the country will be most carefully considered in this review.
