Vol. 369 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant and Mortgage Subsidy Payments.

70.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a £5,000 surrender grant will be paid to a former local authority tenant (details supplied) in County Wexford.

The handling of applications for these grants is a matter for the relevant local authority up to the stage of certification for payment. A certificate from the local authority confirming that this applicant has complied with the conditions for payment of the grant has not yet been received in my Department.

71.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason an applicant for a new house grant and mortgage subsidy (details supplied) in County Cork was refused payment even though he complied with all conditions as laid down by his Department including the condition that occupation take place within one year from the date of application.

Contrary to the statutory conditions, the application for a grant was received more than one year after the applicant occupied the house. Accordingly payment of a grant had to be refused.

72.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reasons a house improvement grant was not granted to a person (details supplied) in County Dublin.

The application was rejected because in accordance with a qualifying condition of the house improvement grants scheme, the windows were not considered to be in need of replacement.
