Vol. 369 No. 5

Written Answers. - Co-Operative Housing Groups.

86.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is satisfied at the response from local authorities, to his circular of December 1985, asking them to give advice and assistance to co-operative groups.

I presume the Deputy is referring to the circular letter issued by my Department to local authorities in December 1984, which gave clear guidelines for helping and encouraging cooperative housing groups. The circular exhorted local authorities to provide every possible advice, encouragement and co-operation for such groups and identified a number of specific measures, including the designation of a liaison officer, to which particular attention might be directed by authorities. As far as I am aware, local authorities generally are prepared to provide assistance for cooperative housing groups on the lines set out in the circular letter, but if the Deputy has information to the contrary, in the case of any authority, I will be glad to take up the matter with that authority.

Question No. 87 taken with Questions Nos. 14 and 31.
