Note: N/A = figures not available.

The figures are based on estimates prepared by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and represent public health expenditure as a percentage of gross national product and per head of population. The personal social services component of health expenditure is not readily available for EC countries. In order to compensate for differences in the personal social services content of public health expenditure, the OECD recommend that the Irish figures be reduced by a factor of 1/7.
