Vol. 369 No. 5

Written Answers. - Kilkenny District Court Area.

146.

asked the Minister for Justice if his Department will favourably consider the possibility of having the District Court areas of Castlecomer and Ballyragget in County Kilkenny serviced from the Kilkenny district court office; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

For purpose of District Court business outside Dublin, the State is divided into 250 areas, serviced from 45 District Court Clerkships. The overall functioning of the areas and clerkships is being examined in my Department at present. It is a major task and will take some time to complete. The Deputy's suggestion regarding the District Court areas of Castlecomer and Ballyragget will be considered in the context of this examination.
