Vol. 369 No. 6

Written Answers. - Longford Casualty Unit.

105.

asked the Minister for Health if he will approve the design plans for the Longford casualty unit which are in his Department for some time past so that this project can proceed to tender; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

On 16 July last my Department issued approval to the Midland Health Board to proceed to Stage 3 of the planning process for the provision of a casualty unit at Mount Carmel District Hospital, Longford. Stage 3 involves the preparation by the design team of a developed sketch design for the project. My Department is in communication with the design team on the preparation of the Stage 3 documentation. When this has been completed and submitted to my Department it will be examined without delay to enable the next stage of planning to be undertaken.
