Vol. 369 No. 11

Written Answers. - County Wexford Remedial Teacher.

179.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the great difficulties in Baldwinstown/Ballymitty area, County Wexford because of a necessity for a remedial teacher; if he is aware that there are about 500 pupils attending the two schools; when a remedial teacher will be appointed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The schools referred to by the Deputy are assumed to be St. Joseph's, Ballymitty and Rathangan Central School, Duncormack, both of which have applied for a remedial teacher.

No joint application for a shared remedial teacher has been received. Individual applications have been received. The applications for remedial teachers for national schools are being processed at present by my Department.

Remedial teaching posts are allocated in accordance with a priority of need and these applications referred to by the Deputy will be considered in the light of the availability of remedial posts for 1986-87. The chairman of the boards of management will be advised when a decision has been taken in the matter.
