Vol. 369 No. 11

Written Answers. - Ringaskiddy (Cork) Crane Equipment.

114.

asked the Minister for Communications the reason the Government are not making an application to the European Regional Development Fund for the 50 per cent grant for the cranes at Ringaskiddy Port, County Cork.

As I indicated in reply to a question on 9 April 1986 — columns 356 and 357, Volume 365 of the Official Report — it is contrary to general policy to give State assistance for the provision of plant and equipment at ports. In general only projects in receipt of State aid can be considered for assistance from the European Regional Development Fund. Accordingly the purchase of the cranes is ineligible for such assistance.
