Vol. 370 No. 9

Written Answers. - House Improvement Grant.

125.

asked asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a house improvement grant payment is due to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford, despite a final inspection carried out last September.

A final inspection was carried out in this case on 25 October 1986. However, it was subsequently necessary to request additional information from the applicant which was recently received. Arrangements are being made for payment of a grant within the next few weeks.

126.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange to have a house improvement grant payment in respect of window replacement made to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford as this money is owed to the contractor for many months, and the applicant who is in receipt of disability benefit cannot afford to complete the balance of works sanctioned by the Department's inspector.

The grant relates to repair works to a pre-1940 dwelling. Grants are not paid in instalments and a grant in respect of repair works cannot be paid until all repairs considered by the Department to be necessary to the house are carried out. On receipt of notification of completion of the approved works an inspection will be arranged with a view to payment of the grant.

127.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is prepared to make available a copy of a house improvement grant application form allegedly in the name of a person (details supplied) in County Wexford who claims that she never made an application for such a grant and that she never received payment for works as now recorded in his Department against her.

A reconstruction grant of £200 under the pre-1981 scheme was paid on 14 April 1981. The relevant application form is not readily available at this stage. However, a copy of the payable order related to the particular payment was recently sent to the applicant.
