Vol. 370 No. 11

Written Answers. - Industrial Development in Kildare.

38.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce his intentions with regard to job provision in County Kildare with particular reference to the main towns in the county; the number of jobs grant-aided by the IDA in County Kildare in the past year; and whether there are any plans to locate industries at the new industrial estate at Collinstown, Leixlip or in Newbridge, County Kildare.

Limerick East): I am informed by the IDA that they are actively promoting County Kildare, including its main towns, for suitable industrial development. It is, of course, a matter for individual promoters to determine where precisely to establish a particular project.

I am also informed by the IDA that they have approved grant assistance for projects in County Kildare with an associated employment potential of approximately 700 since the beginning of 1986. This compares very favourably with a 1985 figure of 465.

The IDA are not in a position at this time to identify specific projects for either the new industrial estate at Collinstown, Leixlip or Newbridge, County Kildare, each of which is being actively promoted.
