The situation that arises in connection with the claim by the teacher unions for the amounts outstanding under the terms of the 1985 arbitration finding is one of a number of issues which require detailed examination by me as Minister for Education. This matter will also have to be considered by the Government.
The claim has not been discussed by me with the teacher unions and I have not, to date, received a request from them for such discussion. In all these circumstances the question of my informing the Deputy of any proposals relating to the claim does not arise at this time.
