Vol. 371 No. 8

Written Answers. - Hearing Impaired Children.

227.

asked the Minister for Education if she will sanction the appointment of a teacher for children with impaired hearing at Cootehill school, County Cavan.

As a result of a proposal received from the Committee of Cavan/Monaghan Parents of Hearing Impaired Children my Department are at present considering the question of providing special facilities for hearing impaired children in that area. The proposal is being examined in the light of a review of general requirements for the education of the hearing impaired and of available resources and a decision will be conveyed to the local interested parties as soon as possible.
