Vol. 371 No. 8

Written Answers. - Product Identification Centre.

109.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if it is proposed to establish a product identification centre with resources provided from mainly existing development agencies; and, if so, the way in which the work of this centre will differ from work already being done by the IDA, IIRS and CTT; the cost of the centre, regarding location and staffing; and the reduction in staffing and resources of other agencies which will be affected in order to provide for the new centre.

I presume the Deputy is referring to the statement in the Government's policy document, Programme for National Recovery which states that a Product Identification Centre will be set up, resourced mainly from existing development agencies to speedily identify product possibilities suitable for Irish export industry.

No decision on the arrangements for the implementation of this proposal or the allocation of staff and other resources to the centre has yet been made.
