My Department does not recognise pharmaceutical technicians as a grade for the purpose of employment in the health services.
I understand that the first group who attended the training course approved by the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland finished the course last September and were expected to find employment in community pharmacies and in industry.
There are no plans to provide employment for pharmaceutical technicians in the health services.
