Vol. 372 No. 5

Written Answers. - Navan All-Irish School.

28.

asked the Minister for Education when the All-Irish school will commence in Navan, County Meath, due to the fact that there are increasing numbers of students each year and there was an extra classroom required each September for the last number of years.

The Deputy is understood to refer to Scoil Eanna, the All-Irish national school in Navan, County Meath. The school has currently six teachers and is accommodated in the former vocational school building at Abbey Road, Navan. The question of purchasing a site for a new national school building is under consideration in my Department but it will be some time yet before any capital allocation would be available for such development. Meanwhile, in the light of the Deputy's question, I am asking my Department's local inspectorate to investigate how the immediate additional accommodation needs of the All-Irish national school could be met pending the availability of capital for the provision of permanent accommodation in the longer term.
