The seven regional fisheries boards, which include the Northern Regional Fisheries Board, have statutory responsibility for the enforcement of the salmon conservation and protection laws in their respective regions.
I have recently instructed the boards to take the necessary action to combat illegal fishing to the fullest extent possible within their resources in 1987. I am confident that the boards will do their utmost in this regard.
