Vol. 372 No. 12

Written Answers. - Health Capital Projects.

76.

asked the Minister for Health if he will give a breakdown of the £58.1 million capital expenditure for 1986 between the hospitals and other agencies to which it was applied, indicating in each case where this is part of a longer capital programme the total budget for that programme; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The total expenditure on health capital projects for 1986 was £58.7 million and an analysis of this total by programme is as follows:

Programme

Capital Expenditure in 1986

£ million

General Hospitals

49.4

Psychiatric Services

2.9

Services for the Handicapped

4.6

Community Health Services

0.9

Community Welfare Services

0.9

Total

58.7

These programmes include a number of projects which will require expenditure in 1987 and in subsequent years but the total costs involved will be influenced by several factors which are difficult to quantify and it is not possible to give precise totals at this stage.
