Vol. 372 No. 13

Written Answers. - Health Board Youth Projects.

270.

asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the work being done by the two Eastern Health Board funded neighbourhood youth projects, in Dublin 1 who work with children, young people and families at risk in view of this being one of the best examples of preventative work done by the Eastern Health Board; the reason staff contracts have been reduced after eight years service, from a six month to a one month renewal basis while a similar project in Cork has been put on a permanent footing; his views on whether these projects should get a more permanent status, and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The issue raised by the Deputy is appropriate to the Eastern Health Board and I have asked the chief executive officer of the board to contact you directly on the matter.
