asked the Minister for Defence if his Department has adopted a policy whereby it is intended to reduce the numbers of civilian employees at Army or Air Corp installations; if there has been a reduction in pay or an alteration in conditions in respect of any of the civilian employees; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Limerick West): In accordance with the Government's decision to reduce public service numbers, the number of civilians employed by my Department with units of the Defence Forces is being reduced by leaving certain posts unfilled as they become vacant. The answer to the second part of the question is in the negative.
