Vol. 372 No. 13

Written Answers. - Proposed National Sports Centre.

290.

asked the Minister for Education if the National Sports Centre Committee in its consideration of the possible location of a proposed National Sports Centre considered any site in the Lucan-Clondalkin area and if, before she decides on such a location, she will visit the Lucan-Clondalkin area first.

In the course of its deliberations, the National Sports Centre Committee received a joint submission from the Dublin local authorities and a meeting was held to discuss the content of the submission. The submission nominated eight potential sites, including a site in the Lucan-Clondalkin area, which were deemed to be suitable for the development of a National Sports Centre. In its interim report the National Sports Centre Committee did not specify any particular location in the Dublin area for developing a National Sports Centre.

I am at present considering the recommendation of the committee having regard to the availability of funds for such a project.
