Vol. 372 No. 13

Written Answers. - Dangan (Roscommon) School.

294.

asked the Minister for Education when improvements will be carried out to Dangan national school, Kilmore, County Roscommon; if her attention has been drawn to the overcrowding at this school; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

My Department are at present considering a report from their professional advisers on a proposed scheme of improvements to Dangan national school, County Roscommon, for which grant-aid has been sought. A decision on the matter will be conveyed to the school authorities as soon as possible.

In March 1986 my Department sanctioned a grant towards the cost of providing a prefabricated classroom at the school, on the basis of the pupil enrolment figures available at that time. In the event, the pupils enrolments fell and the prefabricated classroom was not provided. In the light of the Deputy's question I am arranging for this aspect of the matter to be further investigated.
