Vol. 373 No. 2

Written Answers. - Local Authority Dwelling Purchase Scheme.

20.

asked the Minister for the Environment when details of the local authority dwelling purchase scheme for flats will be finalised; if he has completed discussions with the local authorities concerned; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Recent schemes for the sale of local authority dwellings have allowed the sale of flats as well as houses. However, there have been certain practical difficulties in selling flats under the schemes. A working party, representative of local authorities and the Department, has been examining ways of resolving these problems and is awaiting the results of a survey of tenants in Dublin Corporation flats. As soon as the survey results are available, the working party will be in a position to complete their report. When I have received this report, I will consider the matter further.
