Vol. 373 No. 4

Written Answers. - Clondalkin, Dublin, Road.

167.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will make a statement on the need for the development of the Fonthills/Newlands Road, Clondalkin, Dublin 22 indicating whether this road ranks for Government financial support and subvention

The development of the Fonthill/Newlands Road is primarily a matter for the road authority, Dublin County Council.

A section of the road from Fonthills to Neilstown was constructed with the aid of State road grants in the mid seventies. Also in June, 1986, my Department approved in principle of the completion of the section of the road from New Nangor Road to Boot Road in the Clondalkin area for road grant purposes; the present position regarding the latter section was outlined in my reply to a question on 7 April 1987 (Official Report, Volume 371, No. 8, columns 1515, and 1516).

The funding of the remaining sections of the road is a matter for the road authority.
