My Department have had discussions with RTE regarding the possibility of providing a schools radio service at primary level and, at a later date, of developing an educational television service. Progress in these areas is contingent on the requisite resources being available. In view of the current heavy financial commitments in the educational sector overall and the constraints in public resources generally it would not be feasible to undertake any further commitments at present.
