asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford who submitted all requested information and documents to his Department some time ago.

As requested by the Deputy a duplicate certificate of approval has been sent to the applicant.

There is no record of the receipt of an application for a new house grant for the person named at the address given.

There has been no undue delay. Notification of completion of works was received on 31 March 1987, and an inspection took place subsequently. The grant will be paid as soon as possible.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 119 and 127 together.

The handling of applications for the £5,000 surrender grant is a matter for the relevant local authority up to the stage of certification for payment. The appropriate certificates have not been received in the Department in these cases.

A grant cannot be allowed as an inspection was not carried out on or before 27 March, 1987.

An inspection, with a view to payment of the £2,000 new house grant will be carried out as soon as possible. Payment of the £2,250 grant will be made to the builder of this house in two equal instalments in due course in accordance with the conditions of the scheme.
