On the basis of the details supplied by the Deputy it is not possible for me to indicate whether a formal application has been received, in this instance, under my Department's capital grant scheme for the construction of recreational facilities. It would appear appropriate, however, to point out, at this stage, that the terms of this particular scheme preclude the provision of assistance towards the development of outdoor facilities, including the development of playing pitches.

asked the Minister for Education if she will approve a grant towards the cost of improvements carried out at Coláiste Einde, Galway city; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
Work relating to the repair and refurbishment of the school was carried out without the prior approval of the Department in contravention of the requirements of the building grant scheme for secondary schools.
The application for a retrospective grant payment is being considered in the Department. A decision on the application will be taken when the long term projected enrolment capacity of the school has been thoroughly researched and the nature of the work established.
