Vol. 373 No. 8

Written Answers. - Kerry Coastal Erosion.

59.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will make a statement on the serious coastal erosion occurring at Beale Strand, Asdee, County Kerry; and the plans, if any, he has to take corrective action to prevent further erosion at this location.

Kerry County Council submitted to the Commissioners of Public Works proposals for a coast protection scheme at Beale Strand, Ballybunion, in accordance with the Coast Protection Act, 1963.

The commissioners have advised the council that a preliminary examination of the proposals, in accordance with the Act, will not be undertaken until such time as an adequate prohibitory order, to prevent the removal of beach material in the area has been obtained and enforced by the council.
