Vol. 373 No. 8

Written Answers. - Prices Display Order.

97.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce when the returns will be available on the extent to which the Prices Display Order of March 1987 is being complied with by retail outlets; and whether his monitoring of compliance with this display order will include collecting information on the extent to which retail prices are in compliance with recommended prices from the oil companies.

The order to which the Deputy refers does not require the furnishing of returns in regard to compliance but I can say that very few complaints have been received in regard to non-compliance.

The monitoring of the level of petrol prices actually charged is a separate issue. As the Deputy will be aware the order in question lays down no requirements in this regard.
