Vol. 373 No. 9

Written Answers. - Tax Rebate.

67.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the delay in payment of a tax rebate to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that there has been no undue delay in dealing with this case. The taxpayer and her husband are assessable to income tax on their combined incomes in accordance with the provisions of section 194 of the Income Tax Act, 1967.

The balance of the information required to enable reviews of the joint liability of the husband and wife to be dealt with for the years 1981-82 to 1986-87, was not received by the Inspector of Taxes until May 1987. The reviews have been dealt with and a cheque in settlement of the refund due will be issued to the taxpayer's husband shortly.
