Vol. 373 No. 9

Written Answers. - VHI Legislation.

158.

asked the Minister for Health if he will amend the existing Voluntary Health Insurance legislation to allow it to invest in or manage private hospitals; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I will shortly be putting before Government, proposals for the amendment of the Voluntary Health Insurance Act, 1957.

These proposals, when agreed by the Government, will be presented to the Oireachtas in the normal way in the form of an amending Bill. It would not be appropriate, therefore, to give details of the possible contents of such a Bill at present.
