Vol. 373 No. 9

Written Answers. - Government Information Services.

23.

asked the Minister for Finance the procedures adopted by the Government Information Services when awarding contracts for the printing of material; if tenders are normally sought for these contracts; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The normal procedure adopted by the Government Information Services in relation to printing requirements is to place an order with the Controller of the Stationery Office who is responsible for the printing, publication, distribution and sale of Government publications.

Except in cases of extreme urgency, competitive tenders are sought by the Stationery Office and the contract is awarded to the lowest suitable tenderer.
